Nasty On formed in Vancouver in late May 1999 the day after guitarist Allen Forrister booked their first show. Two weeks later they performed 19 songs at the Picadilly Pub. Mostly 30 second throwbacks to the early days of The Replacements and one ambitious cover of Creation's "How Does It Feel." It wasn't the greatest show but it was a testament to what these four ambitious men would accomplish.

Nasty On is comprised of Allen (guitar), Jason Grimmer (vocals), Matthew Lyons (bass) and Chad Mareels (drums). They all moved to Vancouver in the early to mid-nineties. Chad came from London, Ontario where he played with the seminal London punk group Black Donnellys. Allen came from North Battleford, Saskatchewan where he grew up playing in marching band drum lines, taking guitar lessons and in high school played in a group called I Am Joe's Lung. Jason and Matthew came from St. Steven's, New Brunswick. Jason went to broadcasting school and Matthew once had a Mr. T haircut that got him beat up every day for 2 weeks.

Nasty On recorded for the first time in August 1999 with Marc Andrie (Black Halos, Spitfires). 19 songs in one day. They mixed 5 of them. One was an early version of "Lester Bangs" which would stay on CITR's "Indie/Home Job" chart for over a year. They recorded again in March 2000 with producer Jay Solyom (Spitfires' vocalist), recording and mixing thirteen songs over the weekend. Intended to be demos but garnering no interest from the handful of labels they were sent to, Jason and Allen decided to release 6 of the tracks as the "Lester Bangs e.p." on their own label Stutter Records. Meant really just to sell at shows, the ep received good reviews locally and in a few national and international papers and zines.

They would return to Jay's basement again in March of 2001 with 14 more songs to record. Assuming they could once again pull out the magic over a weekend, Nasty On were left dissatisfied and disillusioned. Immediatly after recording, they wrote some new songs: "The Ship That Died of Shame", "Amphetamine, Now!", and "Not In Love". Feeling that these songs were what was needed to help form a cohesive theme for the album, Nasty On started visualizing the album, newly titled CitySick. They recorded 11 more songs (once again with Jay Solyom) and CitySick was released on Stutter Records in July 2002. It received rave reviews locally ("The best local rock record since Slow's Against The Glass" - Georgia Straight) as well as internationally from Kerrang!, Alternative Press, and a hugely glowing review from Nirvana/Hot Hot Heat producer Jack Endino in the NW's now defuct Backfire magazine.

Nasty On are currently working on new songs for the upcoming "See Through You" record. 18 demos have been recorded and 10 more have been written.
